Pizza, Pizza!

A couple weeks ago I decided that C&J should go through the childhood rite of passage that is making their own mini pizzas on english muffins. So we went to the store (not just any store though...Charlotte is currently refusing to go to the grocery store and will only go to "the Target store!"). So after a quick trip to "the Target store" to pick up the necessities, we returned home and got to work.

While I think they enjoyed making the pizzas, I think I enjoyed watching them make the pizzas even more! I love how their little personalities and differences are so evident in everything they do...it is so amazing to be raising these two individuals.

My little Charlie and her methodical piece-by-piece placing of the cheese:

And then there's my wild man and his cheese free-for-all:

I think more went in his mouth than on the pizza. Hmmmm, wonder where he got his love of cheese??

And then we moved on to this:

At any rate...a good time was had by all. Another childhood rite of passage under their little belts!

Facing Forward

We turned the kiddos' carseats around yesterday so that they now ride facing forward. I know what you're thinking...yes, most people do it waaaaay earlier. (Even our pediatrician gave us the side-eye when we told her at C&J's two-year-checkup that they were still rear-facing.) However...I am married to Mr. Car Seat Safety 2012, so we waited until we were good and ready to turn them around.

Brian took their car seats out today for the first time since we installed them. Ready for some yuckiness?

Yes, it was an impressive pile of cheddar bunny and graham cracker dust. (Note that the seats of the minivan have nifty covers on them to protect the leather. Brian says this is the best decision we've ever made. Maybe a bit dramatic but they really do work well! The leather underneath all that nastiness looks new!)

We really talked up the fact that the kids would get to face forward and watch Mommy drive. I expected them to climb in and be all super-excited, but when have these kids ever done something I expected them to do?!?

Jensen was unsure...

And Charlotte was downright freaking out...

Yikes...maybe that's one good reason to turn them around earlier: so they won't be totally set in their ways and used to being rear-facing! Fortunately it only took a short ride over to Tita and Papaw's house to convince them that it's really fun to face forward and see all the sights. Jensen threw up his arms roller-coaster style and yelled, "Wheeee!" and Charlotte kept saying, "I'm going fast! And Jensen is going fast!".

Final verdict? Facing forward is fun!

Bubbles & Brew, Baptisms & "I Do"!

We have had lots going on lately! I've been a bad blogger, which I blame on the fact that I'm working on the first newsletters of the year for both the early childhood PTA and my multiples group, attending physical therapy to try to finally get my knee back in working order, and dealing with two kiddos who seem to only nap every other day (and as you might have guessed, they almost NEVER pick the same day to nap!). Anyhow, we have had some fun events with our friends over the past few weekends, starting with a couples' shower for our friends Hilari and Nick.

The theme was "Bubbles & Brew" (aka champagne and beer!). I'd never seen that theme done before and thought it was a pretty cute way to do "his and hers". We had a very last-minute location change which threw us off a bit, but other than that I think the shower turned out really cute!

Bride & Groom

Kristin, Tiff and Me.

Notice there are no pics of the drinks...that would be because I made a Pinterest recipe for a champagne punch and it wound up being a not-so-lovely brownish-greenish color! Yuck! Unfortunately it tasted only slightly better than it looked, too. Must remember to try Pinterest recipes prior to using them for a large crowd.

The next day I attended the baptism of Cristi's little one, Ellison. (Actually, I attended the after-party...I didn't want to attempt both kids sitting through the service.) I only took one pic but it's a pretty cute one of Miss Ell-G enjoying some fruit on a stick!

Next up is the wedding of our friends Jonathan and Tiffany. We have known Jonathan forever and were so excited to finally see him tie the knot! Brian and my brother were both in the wedding party, so Tiff and I got some quality pool time in at the Omni while the boys did wedding stuff. So nice and relaxing!

Me and the handsome groom...he's pretty much like a brother to me.

My real brother! And Kim...I was SO happy to get to catch up with Kim and Levi.

Proof that nothing good happens after midnight.
